About this listen

Good Sugar Bad Sugar tackles the biggest dietary threat to the modern world: sugar.

Due to refined sugar in so many foods, we are seeing epidemics of obesity and type II diabetes on a global scale.

The warnings are stark - a 50 percent rise in the death toll from type II diabetes in the next 10 years - yet it's not as straightforward as telling people to cut down on the sugar. Sugar consumption is an addiction that begins at birth, and it requires a proven method to get you free.

Good Sugar Bad Sugar applies Allen Carr's Easyway method to this problem of sugar addiction, unravelling the brainwashing that makes us see sugary food as a pleasure or a crutch and replacing it with clearly explained logic.

Lots of sound, compelling advice and information about removing processed sugar from your diet to improve your health. You'll need to be very determined to see this through. A lot of repetition to (probably) drive home the message. Personally, I couldn't identify with a number of the examples as, for instance, I've never had more than one or two biscuits at a time. Apparently there are some people who eat a whole packet at one sitting. If you're at this end of the spectrum then perhaps this book is for you. Well read.

I finished the book a week ago (for the second time) and it finally sank in today that the book has worked and I am not craving bad sugar for the first time in a long time. I have always eaten a lot of sweets crisps and chocolate and although Ive always known it was bad for me I never put on weight so it was easy for me to brush it under the carpet and forget about how much damage I was actually doing to my body. I was more concerned with kicking the cigarettes which I managed to do 12 months ago with the Allen Carr method. The technique is brilliant, it focuses on getting rid of the 'big' monster in your head so the physical cravings are much easier to deal with. Its so easy to give something up when you don't want to do it and this technique gets you into that headspace.

This year I moved back to my parents and was eating set meals which I wasn't doing before as well as the same amount of sweets, chocolate and crisps which meant for the first time in my life I have put on weight, almost 2 stone. I bought the Bad Sugar book as this technique worked for giving up smoking. It took a few months of reading, stopping reading, and then starting again for me to begin giving up. Its been 1 week since I finished the book and its worked again! Ive hardly had any cravings for sweets and when I have thought about snacking on sugary treats I haven't felt the urge to act on it. Today I was really hungry and when I went into the shops I didn't feel any urge to buy a packet of crisps to snack on which are usually my go to snack. I bought a sandwich instead which is a massive thing for me.

The book talks about bad sugar as all processed foods which I guess is technically correct but, as I only wanted to give up sweets, chocolate and crisps, I just thought about that when the book talked about pasta, bread, pastry etc. I would definitely recommend and even if it doesn't work at first, keep trying. Its all about psychology, if you really don't think you want to do something then you won't have the urge to do it. The technique undoes all the brainwashing that has got you into the position where you feel scared to stop doing something that is really bad for you.

It worked for me!
