THE TIKTOK FANTASY SENSATION THAT'S SOLD OVER HALF A MILLION COPIES, PERFECT FOR FANS OF SARAH J. MAAS AND JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT

'It's the arrogance of men to think so little of women. And it'll be their downfall too'

Locked away in a castle on the snowy mountains in the Sixth Kingdom of Orea, I have never known freedom.

No one can get in or out. Apart from him.

King Midas, who rescued me from the streets. Who gave me food, shelter, and his heart. Who I promised to love forever.

But when political upheaval sees me sent across kingdoms to a future I no longer understand, everything I thought I knew about King Midas is shattered . . .

The world has only ever heard his story.

Now it's time to hear mine.

Praise for The Plated Prisoner Series
Gild is a heart-pounding fantasy romance, and this outstanding book will keep you gripped until the very last word. It’s beautifully written and is a truly riveting story. If you love Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L Armentrout this book is for you! This series is gripping, enticing and darkly romantic. Don’t miss out on this un-putdownable read!
This series has stolen my heart, my breath, my regard for anything else. I've never been so immersed in a story before-never read characters that have felt so real. I've cried, laughed, screamed, thrown my kindle across the room, picked it up again, swooned . . . These characters, this WORLD . . . it's everything. Raven has written a story for the ages, destined to go down as one of the epics
Raven writes with a magic that comes to life on the page. Every single word gleams like gold
This is one of those series that started off phenomenal, and only gets better with every subsequent book.

This series is amazing and I can't recommend it enough. It is one of the best New Adult Fantasy books out there.

TEN GILDED STARS! Remarkably original . . .and the prose, people . . . gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous

An emotional rollercoaster

What I've enjoyed so far about this series is how it's a metaphor about real, emotional issues

I devoured [the] first book and it ended on such a nice cliff-hanger that I am thirsting for the next one

Gild was an interesting introduction to the series and, while I did enjoy it overall, it definitely felt slow at times. The world and premise show clear potential, and it seems like one of those first books that’s laying a lot of groundwork for what could become something much stronger in later installments.

The audiobook narration, unfortunately, didn’t quite work for me. The female narrator sounded quite nasally, and the male narrator came across as very flat — almost AI-like at times — which pulled me out of the story rather than drawing me in.

That said, the concept is intriguing enough that I’d consider continuing the series to see where it goes. A slow start, but one with promise.

Overall good story and I can’t wait to see how this developes! But, I just can’t really get over the voice of the narrator. I’m stuck between Auren being a little girl, or an old lady with this voice. The accent is fine but its the raspy almost nasal quality of the voice. It’s a great sound for other things, but with all the sex in this book, it sounds.. off. I really can’t imagine Auren being this sexy creature with this voice! sorry.

All about the voice.

I agree with other reviewers about the slow beginning and annoying heroine. But I will keep listening as I heard about her character growth. The story definitely has a potential.
And the end was very thrilling! 😍
P.S. there are some triggers like rape, so be aware.

Slow, but worthy

I DNF Gild because the female narrator sounded way too childlike, and the ick was immediate. My ears said “absolutely not" especially with the adult content, wrong in so many levels!

The story itself was doing great, though, so I’m switching to my Kindle to start again, where no rogue childish voice can ambush me.

Also, why can’t the UK get the American narration? I could listen to those voice actors read terms and conditions to me all day and not get bored! Absolute injustice.

Here’s hoping the reading experience hits way better than the audiobook did!

DNF due to the awful female voice narrator

It sounds like the narrator has gum sitting on her back teeth that squishes every now and then, or she’s got a snotty nose? It’s super off putting…

Is the narrator chewing gum?!
