Summary
John Buchan (1875-1940) was a Scottish writer, barrister, and member of Parliament and later become Baron Tweedsmuir and governor-general of Canada. While he was most famous for adventure stories, such as "The Thirty-Nine Steps", he was also popular for his supernatural horror stories, of which "The Watcher by the Threshold" and "The Wind in the Portico" are prime examples.
This anthology brings together five very different examples of Buchan's best work.
- "The Thirty-Nine Steps"
- "The King of Ypres"
- "The Wind in the Portico"
- "The Watcher by the Threshold"
- "The Kings of Orion"

Buchan writes accessible and exciting storiesWho might you have cast as narrator instead of Cathy Dobson?
Someone with a more appropriate voice, or at least tone. Cathy sounded like she was reading for a childrens group. The stories needed more gravity.Great tales spoiled by the wrong narrator
