Good book. Detailed and very interesting

It took me a while to get into this book, as I had just come from a very person book on self discovery by another author - so switching to a very matter of fact style of writing was a bit jarring at first. This book is more like a very long newspaper article, and while it attempts to paint a picture, a lot of it (especially the first half) is “Fred Shipman did such and such”, “Fred Shipman said this”, “Fred Shipman went to this place” - in many respects it’s like a list of events with a few deeper considerations added in-between. This isn’t a criticism though, it’s just something I noticed. The amount of detail is commendable, the choice of narrator is engaging and by the second half I was totally hooked - I listened to the last 4 hours in a single day! I highly recommend this listen, it’s truly fascinating and the final paragraph of the last chapter made me gasp out loud.

Though: I can't escape feeling the author used speculation.

Can't tell about historical accuracy, grizzly tale

Very thorough account of Shipman's life and the lead up to his murders with an engaging narrator. The only mild complaint I have is the frequent references to women's appearances, especially Primrose. I feel like most of the time it's not relevant to the story and is a bit jarring. Also use of words such as 'spinster' or refence to a victims son's "blonde wife". Unnecessary.

There’s something very Garth Marenghi about this audiobook, both in its writing & performance but it’s all the more enjoyable for it.
