You have to get use to the voice of lector. This book is more focused on the story from the game. So it doesn’t contains lone man and journey vibe like game but it makes me feel better understanding the lore and story. It makes your connection even better :). If you loved the game you should hear this book. I do recommend putting game soundtrack in the background.

Great book. Now on to the second one. The audiobook speeds up the slower aspects of the game and keeps the interest to the narrative.

It’s a great listen, a nice way of revisiting this story without the 100+ replaying the game. Thanks Kojima, for all the great (very crazy) stories.

I was sceptical about a novelisation of a game where all you essentially do is walk around carrying stuff to from one place to another. But like the game, such descriptions are diminutive. If you've played Death Stranding (which is a masterpiece) you'll know that it is packed with lore, a lot of which is explained and alluded to often fairly quickly. So when I picked the game back up after a year in order to achieve the platinum, it was great to listen to the audiobook at the same time, not only to reacquaint myself but also to delve deeper into the backstory, which this book provides in abundance.
I'm a bit frustrated that this book is split into two parts though: Seems like a rip off. The narrator does a serviceable job but I wasn't keen on how he voices Deadman in this weird singysongy voice

I was really excited when I heard there was a novelisaton of Death Stranding, even more so when it got the audible treatment. I loved the world and experiencing more of Kojima's amazing style.

As loopy and strange as the game was it has been translated well to written form. It manages to capture the feeling of isolation from Sam's perspective but breaks things up by having short sections detailed from the POV of shelter occupants which I think does a good job of fleshing them out for the reader, especially ones who have not played the game.

The narrator does a good job overall and his range of voices is good and consistent though some may sound a little out of place compared to the actors they had in the game, that's understandable.

If you are a fan of the game then this is a must. The TPB versions also look awesome and will make a fine addition to anyone's bookshelf. For readers who have not played the game there is a lot to enjoy in this story though i feel some of the experience may be lost by not being able to witness the striking visuals of the world Sam is exploring.
