Often considered one of the first ever psychological thrillers, Crime and Punishment is a gripping tale of a poverty-stricken young man in Saint Petersburg, Russia, who hatches a plan to kill someone for money. Once the deed is done, he finds himself racked with guilt, confusion and disgust for his act.

In this new recording, Will Poulter (Detroit, Midsommar, The Maze Runner) gives new life to the troubled protagonist, Rodion Raskolnikov, in a performance that will have you questioning where we draw the line between right and wrong.

The narration was excellent. The story is easy to follow and just superb. Well worth it

What can be a fairly hard-going novel (and this is not my favourite translation) absolutely flies by when it is brought vividly to life by Will Poulter with a fantastic performance, giving individual and distinctive life to each character. More narrations from Mr Poulter please...

Superb Performance

Many of the characters were distasteful, or even awful. But the story itself didn’t excuse that or try to make you like them.

Some shocking elements to our modern sensibilities, regardless I recommend.

And will be writing a full review on my blog

Well worth a listen. Some excellent passages, brilliant observations and an insight into the Russia of the time. My only criticism is the difficulty with the Russian names in their various forms. Will Poulter does a fine job of the narration.

Interesting story, fine performance
