The acid attack came after she had ended her relationship of several years with Anthony Riley, the man who said he couldn’t live without her. Anthony Riley was convicted in October 2015 and was sentenced to a minimum of 13 years in prison.

Screaming at the book in my head ‘ugh just don’t go back’, all the while knowing I was Adele at her age. Knowing it’s not that simple. These abusers have a knack. It’s so easy to judge and tell someone what they should do. We know what we should do, we know better than anyone, but the way they get into your mind is like nothing you can describe!

I couldn't stop listening and believe what she went through and how anyone cpuld find themselves in such an abusive relationship. This shpuld be made into a movie and parts of it used in high schools to educate young girls.

A very interesting but tragic and sad story of an abusive relationship . At times very emotional and even as a bloke I cried when this young lady realised she had a face after her attack . She is very courageous and I wish her everything good for her future .
riley (anthony). you was a big fish in a small pond and definately a bully and very inadequate . If you lived where I lived and if you treated any relative of mine in that way then you would have been ironed or shived .
You are a weak and pathetic man , controlled by your own feelings of inadequacy and I hold no hope for you .
I had some compassion for the guy who through the acid but I understand the young ladies inability to forgive .

Could not stop listening. Hard to say I enjoy a book that has these consequences. Listening was difficult at times, but amazing strength and courage by the author.

this evil man took Adele's youth from her for 6 years. she suffered coercive bullying, manipulative behaviour and it was not love. what he did to her was scary, I think he deserves to rot in hell. his family should be ashamed for their part. Adele is incredibly brave. I couldn't put this book down. I felt so sorry for what that monster put you through. life moves on. you will meet someone who will treat you the way you should be treated. so brave. I believe your attacker was just as much a victim but he did what he did and deserves jail.
