ZOMBIES IN SPACE: If that sounds like a corny B rate horror to you, you’re probably right, it probably is. Or it could be a commentary on current aspects of society, but, it’s probably just that first thing. That’s okay, though, I love B rate horrors and you might too!
It’s over two hundred years in the future and humans have begun to travel the cosmos, colonizing multiple inhabitable planets. They’ve found no new intelligent life, or have they? One such planet is small and very Earth-like, it has been labeled QCV2020. Why? Well that’s classified, for a very good reason--at least the government thinks so. But, if you don’t follow safety protocols, you’ll soon learn why it’s so classified. And then, the question won’t be if it is too late for you, it’ll be, “Is it too late for mankind?”

Mycophage delivers exactly what great science fiction and horror should: a fascinating premise, compelling characters, and a story that keeps escalating in unexpected ways. J.C. Ahern does an excellent job blending suspense, mystery, and imaginative world-building into a narrative that feels both unsettling and believable.
What stood out most to me was how the story balances action with larger questions about survival, identity, and humanity. The fungal and biological elements create an atmosphere that is equal parts fascinating and disturbing, making it difficult to stop listening once the story gains momentum.
The narration was engaging and brought the characters and tension to life. I found myself looking for excuses to keep listening just to find out what would happen next.
If you enjoy science fiction with horror elements, first-contact mysteries, biological threats, or stories that make you think while keeping you entertained, Mycophage is well worth your time. A creative and memorable listen that stayed with me long after it ended.
