About this listen

The past does not stay buried. It awakens.

Jonah thought he had escaped his old life. He was wrong.
Memories sealed behind grief and trauma are returning, and with them comes the truth of what he once was, what he did, and a secret powerful enough to shatter the Empire.

Across Salucia, the search for the keys continues. Wayran follows the trail left behind by Mannford while Matoh struggles to uphold the legacy left by his mother. Adel comes into her true power as Naira reaches for her dreams. John is closing in on Thannis, who dares to build a better world and has had enough of manipulation. Echinni, Kai, and Jachem push back against duty and stereotypes but fall into a trap meant to catch a king.

The war for Salucia is no longer coming. It has already begun. The old world is stirring, and what awakens may change everything.

Empires fracture. Alliances shift. Secrets bleed into the open.

Nine lives. One design. No escape.

Awakenings continues the Knights of Salucia saga, an epic young adult crossover fantasy of knights, airships, swords, politics, ancient civilisations, and physics-bent magic—perfect for listeners who love sprawling casts, rising wars, and world-shaking mysteries.

This story is amazing before you know it your wishing you could siphon.

The characters are rich with depth and detail and when you get comfortable the author isn’t afraid to throw you a curve ball.

One of the best books I have read in a very long time

Lady take me, I need book 3

This is now my favourite book series.

A perfect sequel as far as I'm concerned, fully expects you to have read the first book and doesn't waste much time at all on re-describing everything to you and it makes full use of that saved time and the already well developed characters to hit the ground running.

Lots of characters are now in the same place (or much closer than they were before) but everyone still has their own stuff going on and everyone gets an interesting journey to go on.
Backstory and worldbuilding is still meted out at just the right pace that you are constantly learning the histories and politics of this world but never getting bogged down with over exposition and it's always kept relevant to what is going on (this is especially noticeable to me as I read another fantasy series that seemed to start each chapter with several pages worth of lore about the gods that ended up having no bearing on the story whatsoever).

I don't think I've ever cared for fictional characters as much as I have for those in this book, I genuinely get distressed when they are put in perilous situations (even when I'm re-reading) and this is definitely a testament both to how well written they are and how well performed this book is, Rhys David really does bring the words to life here, everyone has a clear and distinct voice and accent (plus accents are pretty consistent for for characters that come from the same areas without sounding like the same voice), the action scenes are read with a level of urgency and excitement that make it difficult not to get swept up in the moment and the emotional scenes do have such passion that you can't help but care for those involved.

I cannot recommend this series enough and in fact I do recommend it to everyone even if they ask for books in other genres because I just need more people to talk to about it!

An incredible world full of wonderful characters

I started this book as soon as I finished the first. The book kept the momentum built by the first pulling the story threads together before delivering an amazing ending. Several mysteries introduced in the first book are revealed, but these leave further questions in their wake. I recieved a review copy of this book and was disappointed that it finished and I will have to wait for the final book.

The story comes together
