Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist.

Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.

After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.

The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows - and it's forbidden.

Contains mature themes.

The narration is fantastic. But honestly the story feels a little like a cringey teen romance novel. Hades is Edward Cullen and Persephone is Bella, just with a bit more sex involved. I would've liked to have heard more character development or backstory, but I suppose that's due in Scarlett's following novels. Her world feels like she stole a lot from Lore Olympus, The amazing and successful webcomic series which has been picked up by Netflix, to be produced by Jim Hensen studios.
I honestly feel this book was disappointing and not as I'd hoped. Is it only popular due to the amount of sex and sexual tension?

So-so.

I took a chance on this and I'm so glad. I listened to all these 1 after the other and am waiting on the next edition eagerly.

I see a lot of comments about it being cringey and I really didn't get that at all. I know the main character is a trope type naive woman but the whole point is her overcoming that and the fact she never really was weak. She was made to be weak and the whole time had been letting people make her lower than. She develops into herself and you want it for her.

I loved the reimagined Greek gods and overall just found it enjoyable and silly and spicy.

This isn't a serious series. They made me laugh and smile and blush and just overall want the best for Persephone so thats a win from me.

Throughly enjoyable

didn't like the steamy bits, felt a bit over the top while listening on my commute to work 😅 & as t times Persephone is pretty irritating, but overall I did really enjoy this

Enjoyable story with good narration

So this has been on my list for ages and I wasn't sure I would enjoy it. But I have really enjoyed listening to it and also feel like it's the back drop to so many books I have listened to/ read in the last couple of years.
I can't wait to read the next one

Fantastic
