The stand-alone sequel to the award-winning The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet

Lovelace was once merely a ship's artificial intelligence. When she wakes up in an new body, following a total system shut-down and reboot, she has to start over in a synthetic body, in a world where her kind are illegal. She's never felt so alone.

But she's not alone, not really. Pepper, one of the engineers who risked life and limb to reinstall Lovelace, is determined to help her adjust to her new world. Because Pepper knows a thing or two about starting over.

Together, Pepper and Lovey will discover that, huge as the galaxy may be, it's anything but empty.

So much fun to read
Joyously written and a joy to read.
The most fun that I've had with a novel in a long, long time
Explores the quieter side of sci-fi while still wowing us with daring leaps of imagination
Exceptional... Chambers is a true talent and writer to watch
Warm, engaging, properly science-fictional, A Closed and Common Orbit is a very likable novel indeed
Becky Chambers writes aliens like no one else ... the only flaw in this series is you'll wish you could spend more time with all of them
One of the most enjoyable, brilliantly realised spacey SF novels I've read in ages.

I love this exploration of what it means to be human. The story takes you a long and the characters are believable.

Loved the book, character lead story with real emotional reach. This is not like any sci-fi novel I have read (unless it's by Becky Chambers). I love the gentle pace and the character development. I want to read more.

Gentle feel great SciFi

Excellent story, characters and themes. Couldn't put it down. A great follow up to her previous book. Worth noting the exceptional narrator who really poured emotion into the characters. Can't wait for the next book.

Amazing

Having read the first book I was keen to get to the sequel. Certainly this wasn't what I expected but it was a real treat. The story of Pepper is lovingly crafted here, with the back story running in parallel to current day.

Overall a worthy sequel to the first. In many ways I actually enjoyed it more than book 1.

Lovely story
