Wow, Quick has done it again, with a steamy, spice, enemies to lovers, high tension, delicious spice and passion you will yearn for. I am in love with this series and all of the dark daddies but I think Nik is my favourite, I love the bratty banter, rough and brutal spice and energy these two spark in this book. It’s great to see all the daddies and their better half’s, the bratty, fierce queens of New York. Plus more from the delta force. this book beautifully rounds off the dark daddies of New York trilogy and give you just a hint of excitement for the next dark daddies collection. My only question is will we see more of Alek? And will he get his own story soon? Only time will tell.

This is book three in the Dark Daddies of New York series. If you like your mafia romance messy, chaotic and driven by characters who are combustible when combined and make you yell “oh my goodness, these two need therapy and a locked room” every five pages, this one is going to hit that little spice gremlin part of your brain that goes “oh no… but yes!”.. it’s interwoven with the other books but a story all in itself and the FMC and MMC are fire together. His got that obsessed dom vibe and she’s got that rebellious bratty streak!

Nik & Ani’s dynamic is a constant tug of war, with his dominant, controlling and deeply annoyed personality. Where she’s defiant, sharp tongued and totally allergic to doing what she’s told… that combination? Yeah… it’s electric. If you’re here for Daddy kink and dominance games, then buckle up.

The audiobook is performed in Duet by River Dorian and Sean Masters. The audio is honestly addictive to listen to and the narrators lean into the tension and attitude without going over the top. Sean Masters especially nails Nikolai’s cold steely vibe that brings that low voiced deadly calm that says “I could murder you or marry you.. depends on my mood.”, while River Dorian gives Ani that perfect cocktail of bratty and furious woman who can win an argument in three different languages but absolutely cannot admit she’s attracted to him.
It’s very high energy, intense and spicy. If you’re an audiobook person, this one adds to the experience.

The pace of the writing and narration works for this kind of book. The plot is built on chaos (mafia politics, sibling betrayal and delicious forced proximity) so the momentum feels fun and intentional. There’s no slow burn here. You’re dropped straight into the fire and the story never really lets you catch your breath.

This book knows exactly what it is.. a high heat and high stakes dark romance that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. The banter hits, the tension simmers like crazy and the spice comes in hot.
If you’re in the mood for something fast, filthy and dramatically addictive then this will scratch the itch.
